Greetings! I'm writing to invite you to be a part of something special.

On July 9th at 7:30 pm, I will be joined by FairVote's Rob Richie, New America Foundation's Steven Hill and local leaders in the drive for one of the most compelling electoral reforms of our time: ranked choice voting.

Full details are below and at the FairVote website - but we'll gather from 7:30 to 9 pm at Foreign Cinema in downtown San Francisco.

The Marin Interfaith Council will sponsor a panel discussion on the success of the state's ballot initiative system. Panelists will include League of Women Voters member Anne Layzer; Marge Macris, an advocate for the SMART passenger rail measure; and Joy Dahlgren, an opponent of SMART.

This free event will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, September 23 at the Marin Lutheran Church at 649 Meadowsweet Drive in Corte Madera. Attendees are asked to bring an appetizer to share.

What does this have to do with ranked voting? Open and read the attachment to find out. It's really a shame that this event conflicts with the Election Advisory Committee's annual community meeting.

The local chapter of the World Affairs Council will hold a lecture on Franco-American relations at 7:50 p.m. June 21 in the Creekside Room in Caleruega Dining Hall on the Dominican University campus in San Rafael.
