The Marin County Election Advisory Committee will hold its first annual community meeting on Thursday, June 21 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. The location is is the Board of Supervisors chambers at the Marin Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, 3rd Floor.

Lowell Finley, Deputy Secretary of State for Voting Systems Certification and Policy, will be the guest speaker. Mr. Finley oversees testing and certification for all voting machine technology in California. He is also an expert on election law.

Assembly Appropriations Committee to hear AB 1294 and AB 1662

Berkeley IRV- Tuesday Rally and City Council outreach

In March 2004 Berkeley voters overwhelmingly passed Measure I, which told our government to implement Instant Runoff Voting (a.k.a. Ranked Choice Voting) as soon as possible- yet now it's 2006 and there's still no IRV! However, it's completely possible to have it in time for this November's elections. The Registrar of Voters and ESS, the voting machine vendor which ran San Francisco's successful and scandal-free IRV elections in 2004 & 2005, are working out the costs and tasks of the county and Berkeley right now. The immense economic savings IRV will bring by eliminating costly and undemocratic runoff elections are already well-known.
